The Seattle Fire Department says residents are displaced but there were no injuries after a two-alarm fire damaged homes and an apartment building on 20th Ave in the Central District early Thursday morning.

SFD reports it was called to the block of 20th and Marion around 1:20 AM to a report of a shed on fire behind a residence.

“The first units on scene reported smoke and flames coming from the shed, then extending to adjacent homes,” SFD reports.

The response was upgraded to a 2-alarm fire to bring additional resources to the scene. SFD reports twelve fire engines, six ladder trucks, Rescue 1 and additional support units responded, totaling 100 Seattle Fire personnel.

The fire was reported under control around 3 AM.

SFD says seven buildings were damaged including four single-family homes and an apartment fourplex.

Seattle Fire did not provide additional details about how many residents were displaced.

The Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections was called out to evaluate the structural damage of the buildings.

A SFD unit remained on scene through the morning for fire watch.

Construction was recently permitted for replacing a retaining wall in front of one of the involved residences.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
