Christian Rapper QuesThorough on Fatherhood, Rapping, And The State of Gospel Music (Full Interview)

"I live and breath Christianity so it comes out naturally for me. It is the driving force behind my music!"

Mistah Wilson: Yo, Quest! What's tha deal, fam! Thanks for joining ThaWilsonBlock Network and coming thru for this exclusive interview with thawilsonMAG. How's life treating you?
QuesThorough: Life is amazing! God has opened doors that I never dreamed of walking through! The music has been the catalyst for new relationships and I recently celebrated 1 year as a home owner with my wife and children! 12 years ago we were homeless and now home owners! ONLY GOD🙌🏾 My song guiding my way is my testimony of that experience.

Mistah Wilson: For your audience reading this, could you hit us with a quick background on yourself?
QuesThorough: I’m a married father of 7 children, 6 girls and 1 boy! I’ve been with my wife for 26 years. We will be celebrating 21 years of marriage this October 28th! My entire family is musically inclined! So music came natural to me. I’ve been rapping and singing since I was a youngster! Rap music wasn’t excepted in my household growing up though. Pops didn’t respect it as real music so I kept my passion for it hidden. I spent the majority of my adolescence singing in choirs and an ensemble. I only rapped amongst my close friends and family.

Mistah Wilson: If you will, could you share your testimony to becoming a Believer in Jesus Christ?
QuesThorough: I was born and raised into Christianity. Although I was very active in the church, and genuinely believed in the God of the Bible, I didn’t get serious until 2001. It was shortly after I got married. My wife and I were constantly at each other’s throats. We married young and really didn’t know what we we’re getting into. But I knew that I didn’t want to lose her. My pastor at the time, David Acosta Sr of Covenant Life Ministries, counseled me and helped me establish a real relationship with Christ! Which in turn made me a better husband and priest of my home!

"I encourage believers to crack open their bibles more often! That includes myself!! The answers we need are in it!"

Mistah Wilson: How has becoming a Christian impacted your music and creation process?
QuesThorough: Like most artist my music stems from my life! I live and breath Christianity so it comes out naturally for me. It is the driving force behind my music! Every situation that God has allowed me to overcome and learn from is put into my bars. I’m a strong believer that God permits some of us to face, endure, conquer and then share our testimonies to help others avoid the same pitfalls. I’m transparent in hopes to help and encourage the listener!

Mistah Wilson: What current and upcoming projects do you have in tha works?
QuesThorough: I’ve been actively working on two projects for the last 2 years! One with Chris Val aka Reveilmusic, who is the mastermind behind Lights Out, SaWce and Wherever You Lead. The title of the project will be called Finally Here! We are about 75% done! The other is with my guy Terry Jefferson aka Lac Grizzly, who is the mastermind behind Grind Out and the Grind Out StackZion Remix! This project hasn’t been titled yet, but we are 2 songs away from wrapping up and I’m hoping to have both out the beginning of 2022!

Mistah Wilson: What are your thoughts on tha covid vaccine? Would you say it's precursor to tha mark
of tha beast. Why it why not?
QuesThorough: I am vaccinated but I don’t believe people should be forced to get it done. Historically speaking, people don’t respond well to being forced to do anything. Even if it’s for their own good! Im a father, and any parent can attest to the fact when we force our children to do what we want, their more likely to rebel. People tend to make the right decisions when all the facts have been laid out before them. Freedom of choice is everything! Even our Heavenly Father doesn’t force Himself and His ways on us! As far as the mark of the beast, I know this isn’t it. Scripture makes it clear what to expect in regards to the mark. I encourage believers to crack open their bibles more often! That includes myself!! The answers we need are in it!

Mistah Wilson: What's your opinion on tha current state of Gospel music?
QuesThorough: I think that Gospel music as a whole is in a great place. It’s evolved!! Gospel artist are really tapping in to worship!! When I was growing up there was a huge divide between praise & worship and Gospel music. It was cultural. Artist like Israel Houghton helped bridge that gap! It’s become more diverse and that represents the Kingdom!!

Mistah Wilson: Who are some artists you'd like to work with and why?
QuesThorough: I’ve been a die hard Fred Hammond fan since I was a kid! I grew up listening to Commissioned and Fred’s solo projects! It would be amazing to work with him! As far as CHH is concerned, Bizzle and Da Truth are at the top of my bucket list! Their both monster mc’s but most importantly, their anointed and unashamed!!

Mistah Wilson: What inspires your creativity?
QuesThorough: I’m inspired by real life. My music comes from experiences. Some are my own and others stem from people around me. And Christ is always in the center of it all!

Mistah Wilson: How important is giving back to tha community for you and why?
QuesThorough: Giving back is extremely important! It’s part of our commission as Christians! I take my cues from the believers mentioned in Acts 4: 32-34 “Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. There was not a needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold and laid it at the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.” ‭‭I love how Lecrae

said it in his song after the music stops: After the show, after the set, after the music stops what's next? Will there be fellowship, prayer, disciples, will you open your Bibles after the music stops. After it's over, after it ends, after the music stops, what then? ITS DEEPER THAN MUSIC!

Mistah Wilson: What positive, encouraging words do you have for other aspiring artists?
QuesThorough: THIS WALK ISN’T A SPRINT ITS A MARATHON!!! So don’t get discouraged when you stumble! Just get back in the race and pace yourself! God will take care of the rest!
