Watch "BAG" music video by POUNDS (Produced by FITH / Directed by OTTO The Director)

Image
November 8th, 2018: After paying homage to the NYC legend on his latest project, POUNDS hits the Harlem streets with the one and only Pee Wee Kirkland in the cinematic new video for “Bag.” In addition to featuring footage of the Rochester-based spitter running things in his crib with his crew, the visuals directed and edited by OTTO The Director center on a mellow afternoon out and about with Kirkland in tow. It’s an apt representation of not just “ Bag ” but the entirety of Pee Wee Kirkland, POUNDS’ latest album that dropped this past August. The project has an air of both celebration and pain permeating through its equally sharp lyricism from POUNDS and his guests along with the production from FITH. This clip certainly evokes the feeling of a celebration, particularly when you see Kirkland flash that huge grin as he and the emcee enjoy some downtime in Harlem. Pounds "Pee Wee Kirkland" is available on Bandcamp . Keep an eye out for info on POUNDS forthcoming collaboration ...

Read More by Jhantu Randall It was another gathering to hear Malcolm X speak to the crowd about liberation and fighting an unjust system. With the momentum and controversy that he carried with him, there was always a hint of danger, but no one ever thought they'd see what was about to unfold in front of them. Crowding into the Audubon Ballroom on West 165th Street in the Washington Heights neighborhood in Manhattan, the date, February 21, 1965 was about to be written into the history books while the actions behind it would be destined to be shrouded in mystery for decades to come. During the start of the speech, the infamous setup was put into motion. “Hey get your hands off my wallet!” One voice shouts. “We got a thief,” shouted another. As Malcolm tried to calm the situation, a couple men stepped forward and began firing. His wife Betty Shabazz and their children witnessed the 39 year old leader gunned down before their very eyes and pandemonium ensued. For years people wondered ...
