Holistic Hangs: A Chance to Build Community

https://bit.ly/3VkbOxr

Let me take you back to the Summer of 2017. Nashville still was not but a twinkle in our eye. The Underground Music Collective you know and love today was known as Lehigh Valley Underground, based in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

My hair was shoulder length, and I resembled the GEICO caveman. If you know, you know. If you don’t, consider yourself fortunate. 😉

That summer, we had begun planning the Lehigh Valley Underground First Friday Concert Series, to take place on the First Friday of every month across Bethlehem’s Southside Arts District. The goal of #LVUFirstFriday was to bring local, independent talent to help drive traffic to South Bethlehem’s businesses, all in the name of arts, culture, and community. What was notable about the series is that we didn’t just host performances at traditional music venues; pizzerias, pubs, and even home decor shops would get in on the action.

(That home decor shop, by the way? It’s called Domaci. They were always incredibly enthusiastic when First Friday came around, and they always had beautiful new products. If you’re ever up that way, you should check ’em out!)

Fast forward to 2022. We’ve been in Nashville for four years, and we’ve been Underground Music Collective for about the same length of time. One thing that hasn’t changed, though? Our love of building community at the grassroots level.

With that, we were excited to present the first-ever NashLive! Holistic Hangs songwriter night at The Holistic Connection’s Rivergate location (1708 N. Gallatin Pike, Madison, TN). This location — among other THC locations — has an intimate event space that was the perfect setting for an eclectic lineup, featuring the talents of ARREIS, Dylan Taylor, and Foundation Mecca. Events like this one give our community a chance to not only support independent artists, but to support locally-owned businesses. In this case, those in attendance also got to peruse The Holistic Connection’s legal THC, Delta-8, and CBD offerings while vibing out to some tunes.

We look forward to doing it again in 2023 — at The Holistic Connection, and perhaps other “non-traditional” venues around town. While you wait for those plans to unfold, I snapped a handful of photos that you can see below.
