Aesop Rock Announces Daylight EP Reissue

Aesop Rock has announced a reissue of his classic 2002 EP Daylight, coming March 29 from Rhymesayers Entertainment on vinylcassette, and CD formats. The original tracklist for Daylight EP boasted seven songs (plus a hidden track, making a total of eight) that collectively featured production by EL-PBlockhead, and Aesop Rock himself, as well as a guest verse from Blueprint. The full EP was originally only available in CD and digital formats, with the vinyl abridged to a three-song 12” single. The new reissue presents the complete eight songs on vinyl for the first time ever, pressed on two-color side A/B effect orange & blue vinyl to complement the original artwork.

Originally released in 2002, the Daylight EPwas the follow-up to Aesop Rock’s critically-acclaimed Labor Days album, a cult classic released only six months prior. The EP was built around its titular opening song, “Daylight,” a standout track from Labor Days that has persevered as one of Aesop’s most beloved works, and continued expanding upon the range and depth of his multi-talented gifts for writing and producing. In addition to the title track, Daylight EP also included its counterpoint, “Night Light,” an alternate version in concept whose paraphrased lyrics refer back and stand in stark opposition to the original’s, delivered over a darker, more menacing production. Expanding on this contrast, a limited vinyl variant called “Night Light” will be available for purchase, featuring tri-color (blue, silver & black) galaxy effect vinyl, housed in a foil-stamped and numbered jacket. Pre-orders for the various formats and exclusive merch designs are available now from
