DJ Rob Swift & The Real DMT Drop Animated Lyric Video “ClickBait”

In 2020, 2 months into a world pandemic, DJ Rob Swift and The Real DMT dropped The Cure. Their debut EP went on to be the duo’s vaccine for a genre of music that many consider to be under attack by its “stripper rap” genre counterpart. Exactly one year later, the Hip Hop pair is back with more musical medicine. “ ClickBait “, the debut single from the tandem’s sophomore EP, “Halls Of Karma” via Fat Beats. “ClickBait” discusses the optical illusion of the internet, lyrically unpacking the traps we fall into as users when we enter cyberspace. DJ Rob Swift says “The internet’s biggest motivation is to entice us!” The Real DMT adds, ” Just as the internet is a medium that can be used to spread knowledge and information, one can just as easily fall into a rabbit whole of some pretty crazy shit.” The post DJ Rob Swift & The Real DMT Drop Animated Lyric Video “ClickBait” first appeared on UndergroundHipHopBlog . source https://undergroundhiphopblog.com/news/dj-rob-swift-the-real-dmt-dr...

Orlando Based Duo RedRum Drop Chilling New Video “Mark of Da Beast”

In the chilling new video for RedRum ’s haunting banger, “Mark of Da Beast,” the Orlando-based duo serves as narrators for cinematic visuals that serve as a look behind the curtain of a gritty underworld. The two have an incredible way with their words as they sling one visual bar after the next, over the sinister production provided by Nickel Plated. In addition to Racks’ bars, he also directed the single’s video as part of his O.U.C. Films operation. He brings “Mark of Da Beast” to life like only someone that close to the song itself could, blending together stark imagery with footage of himself and Red Eye spitting their verses.Check out the visuals— which is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms —and be on the lookout for RedRum’s forthcoming new project,  The Messiah Complex , which is due out Friday, May 14. The Alchemist – “This Thing of Ours” (EP Review)

This is the 9th EP from Beverly Hills producer, DJ & emcee The Alchemist . Coming up as 1/2 of The Whooliganz in 1993 with Scott Caan, the disbanded a year later after recording a debut album that eventually got shelved & Scott went onto acting. Mudfoot however, quickly established himself as a household name in hip hop production by working with a handful of the culture’s most iconic names ranging from Mobb Deep to Eminem . Last thing we heard from him solo wise was  The Food Villain  back in October & after producing the new Armand Hammer album  Haram  to universal acclaim last month, Uncle Al is staying busy by amassing 6 emcees for  This Thing of Ours . The opener “Nobles” weaves in a Sun Ra sample as Navy Blue & Earl Sweatshirt trade bars back & forth with one another while the next song “TV Dinners” is a bit oxymoronic with it’s calming instrumental along with Boldy James & Sideshow declaring themselves as soldiers through the ly...

Substance810 & Hobgoblin – “The Hanging Gardens” (EP Review)

This is the 2nd EP from Port Huron emcee/producer Substance810 . Originally emerging in 2006 with his debut The Definition  under his original moniker Tekneek, it wasn’t until last year when he dropped the fantastic sequel  The Definition Of  in the summer & then a debut EP  Chess Pieces  in the fall. But just 3 months after the release of his previous album  Makin’ Waves , Substance810 is tapping in Hobgoblin for  The Hanging Gardens . “From a Seed” has some jazz undertones in the instrumental as the Michigander raps about growth before Josiah the Gift accompanies him to spit that pyrex shit on the gospel-sounding “Full Bloom”. The song “Marvel of Mankind” jumps on a flute to talk about being different from those around his way whereas “Pillars of Stone” goes into a more boom bap direction with lyrics about residing in the shadows of the underground. Meanwhile, we have Jamil Honesty & Pure jumping on the horn-inflicted “Majestic” to come for ...

Apollo Blaze – “Break the Cycle“ (Album Review)

Apollo Blaze from Washington D.C. has just released his newest album titled “Break the Cycle” . This 13 track album is insatiably dark dealing with deep disturbing topics such as sexual assault, the death of a loved one, heartbreak and more. This album is a woeful ode that explores the varying feelings of grief that gets associated with loss. From trauma to triumph, Apollo Blaze seeks to break the cycle of grief and achieve contentment and happiness. This album is the full personification of grief and the demons that come with it.   We start with his first track break the cycle, this track is interesting because we start the album with the resolution to the cycle of being sad. Apollo Blaze knows that in order to break the cycle, he must go through the stages of grief that will help him get there. The concept of the album is interesting because he is not only grieving over one loss, but is mourning the multiple tragedies at once. He is dealing with the deepest sadness that one huma...

Bufffalo’s Very Own La Lo East Talks Career, Influences, & New Album

Peace La Lo East , so can you tell us how being from Buffalo, NY inspired you to build a career in Hip Hop? Being from Buffalo always inspired me to build a music career in general for the simple fact my city never gets any recognition. It’s a lot of hidden talent in Buffalo being that it’s a small city it get overlooked in everything. What was your earliest inspiration to start taking Hip Hop seriously as a career? What were some of your earliest memories in hip hop?  Maybe as a kid, you saw something and told yourself, “I want to do that”?…. The early 80s and 90s rap era inspired me as a whole to do rap. However my moms inspired me to be an artist because she would always play us music as kids a lot.   Do you find most of your fanbase familiar with you from your old projects, or do you feel that you’ve been discovered in recent years more so on the merit of your new music. Please detail. I think my fan base I have now are familiar with me because of my recent material I’ve b...

NyceDaFuture x Havoc Feed The Streets With New Single “I Can’t Believe It

Last week  NyceDaFuture   and  Havoc   ga ve fans “Boss of The Bosses,” the first leak off their upcoming album “Future of the Streets.” Heads were amped to hear new bars from one half of the  Infamous Mobb Deep , but were also reminded of how dope Nyce is on the mic. “ I Can’t Believe It ” is the second single from Nyce x Havoc’s highly anticipated project. Hav serves up a big, choral beat and Nyce proves why he was chosen by Mobb Deep to rep the crew in the new era. Def Soulja & Saint Michael – “There’s a Saint in Every Soulja” (EP Review)

This is the latest EP from Bronx emcee Def Soulja . Emerging in 2015 off of the 3-pack Recognize a Soulja, the 37 year old wordsmith only continued to gain notoriety by dropping a handful of singles & small projects since then. But after finishing off the trilogy that got his name out there to begin with, Saint Michael is being brought in the picture for There’s a Soulja in Every Saint . “Let Masses Begin” is a great opener as Def Soulja hops on a piano instrumental to describe everything he’s seen in the hood while things take a turn into the boom bap route so he can call out tough talkers on the short but deadly “Your Worth”. Jay Blue comes into the picture on the hair-raising “Stimmy” as the pair articulate what money can do & even though Def is saying ill shit on “Ripe Fruit”, the instrumental is obnoxious as Hell. The closer “New Day Same Agenda” is a classy way to finish the EP off by flipping the phrase “same shit, different day” on it’s head. I gotta say, There’s a Sou...

Darkness I Am – “Psycho / Strange” (Album Review)

Darkness I Am has dropped a new project titled “Psycho/Strange” . It is a two part album, side A or Psycho Addition has twelve songs while side B S trange Addition has eleven totaling out to 23 tracks. Darkness I Am is originally from St. Paul, Minneapolis, hence his east coast idols/influences such as Onyx, KRS-One, Tech N9ne, Insane Clown Posse Gucci Mane, and Young Jeezy. These influences can definitely be heard throughout these two albums with Darkness’s hard hitting delivery and aggressive tone throughout.   “Psycho / Strange” can be classified and an alternative hip hop album with layers of hardcore thematics. The two-part album features a number of artists such as Hatchet Monkey, Twisted Insane, KD The Stranger, MMMFD, Earnest Dowson, Liquid Assassin, MARS, Cryptic Wisdom, DUBBS and Madchild.   The dual album is promptly split into two sections where one deals with a massive amount of internal conflict, while the other deals with the external. Songs such as Demons d...

Elorik – Aunque camine solo (Videoclip)

Lyrics Born & Cutso Tackle Anti-Asian Hate With “ANTI” Video

In a New York Daily News article from April 18th, actress/comedian Margaret Cho reported 3,795 anti-Asian violent physical assaults and that “The latest anti-Asian numbers, as of April 11, 2021, saw 54 anti-Asian hate crimes reported to the NYDP, compared to 12 by that date in 2020 — an increase of 350%.” While animosity towards Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) has been an unfortunate part of the fabric of racism in the US, this thread of prejudice and hate has only gotten thicker in the recent years. With May being AAPI Heritage Month , attention to this rash wave of oftentimes violent racism is being highlighted by Bay Area AAPI artists LYRICS BORN and CUTSO . “I was called Chink, Gook, Jap, Nip, Slant-Eye, Fob, Chinaman, Immigrant, every day from age three until about 20… and then it went to maybe every other day,” confesses Japanese American rapper/actor LYRICS BORN (real name: Tom Shimura ) about his experiences with anti-Asian hate. Instead of standing silent...

Dough Networkz Presents: Neako & Spano – “Rules & Parameters” (Album)

Neako kicks off this project spitting “ In my time I made some prolific music without influence, I was still fluent, remain exclusive only pop out when it’s necessary… I rhyme like I took 12 senzus, been in the hyperbolic chamber for months. ” In true Ghost fashion, the ski-masked spitter hailing from New Jersey announces his remanifestation. And thus the title “ Rules & Parameters ” applies. A parameter is a quantity whose value is selected for the particular circumstances and in relation to which other variable quantities may be expressed. Neako takes us on a supernaturally braggadocious journey, spitting bars packed with references to high fashion, science fiction and raw street combat. From partying with Griselda in Buffalo on “ Party with Gunn ” to connecting with Los Angeles barsmith and Lord Mobb heavyweight Phonk P on “ Bonnections ,” Neako glides over a smooth yet spooky soundscape crafted by producer Spano for an un-skippable 17 track masterpiece curated by Dough Net...

Vic Mensa & Chance The Rapper Share Acoustic Version Of “Shelter”

Chicago rapper and activist Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper have returned with a bespoke acoustic version of the acclaimed single “ Shelter ” from Vic’s recently released I Tape. The stripped back rendition comes paired with a video that marks Chance the Rapper’s directorial debut as he uses warm hues and grayscale to reflect the song’s intimate keyboard and string-based arrangement. Speaking on the song, Mensa states, “by stripping the song to its most bare form we were really able to bring out a new depth of beauty and meaning, in a time when we as a people are searching for it. Chance’s directorial focus on simplicity shows strength in showing the world just as it is.“ “Shelter” challenges the American system responsible for a history of overcriminalization, racial injustice, and issues that affect the lives of people in underserved communities. The original version, which featured Wyclef Jean in addition to Chance The Rapper, is on Mensa’s latest project I...

Stove God Cooks & French Montana Link For “Dope”

Syracuse-bred rapper Stove God Cooks is a leading voice of hip-hop’s gritty, lyrically-inclined renaissance. But despite this mounting critical praise, Stove God’s aspirations can’t be confined to one lane — he wants to be mentioned in the same breath as today’s most popular hip-hop acts. The pensive artist’s preternatural linguistic command has earned him co-signs from Billboard, Complex, DJ Booth, among others, but it’s his relentless desire — and demonstrated ability — to push the creative envelope that separates Stove God from the rest. After dishing an assist to fellow Babygrande Records artists The Yutes on “In the Kitchen,” Stove God Cooks has returned with his premiere 2021 single, “Dope” featuring French Montana . Spitting over a textured guitar-accented instrumental, Stove God Cooks and French Montana take turns speaking on their respective trap experiences. While many aspects of this hustle have been glamorized in the media, Cooks and Montana deliver honest portrayals of th...
