NYC based beat-maker Nef just dropped his solo debut “Tabula Rasa” Friday.

As he explains the significance “Tabula Rasa translates to scraped tablet, literally a fresh start. The significance to me is that I went through a really dark period growing up and was supposed to end up dead or in jail. I was in AA at the age of 17 and struggled with sobriety and finding my place in the world but luckily I kept with it (over twelve years of sobriety as of this year) and beat the odds.”

“Tabula Rasa showcases an all-star lineup of MCs with the likes of Tek, Ras Kass, G4 Jag, Rome Streetz, Wais P, Nems, Lil Fame, Madhattan, Fastlife, Mooch, Rigz, UFO Fev, Ea$y Money and Statik Selektah along with Termanology on the album’s intro.

Meet Bassist Musician "Jeff Rendlen" from Chicago, IL

Jeff Rendlen on Reverbnation Jeff Rendlen (bass) is a BMI recording artist whose credits include composing the theme song to “Uniquely Kansas City” a weekly television show on KCPT. He composed the sound track to a children’s video pilot “Dozer”. He has performed in many groups including The Charlie Parker Big Band, Ringling Brother Circus, Barney Kessel, Ugene Frezzen (Cellist with Oregon), Buddy Grecko, Claude ‘Fiddler’ Williams, George Salisbury, Four Friends; with Steve Million (now a Chicago fixture) on keyboards, Peter Robinson trio, Chris Mayer trio, and many others. Cassette on Vancouver vs. Seattle "Hip Hop in the states is just so much more advanced"

Learn More about Cassette Mistah Wilson : We discovered you while you were performing at a show in Seattle. How much different would you say Canada is from tha United States? Cassette : I found that the scenery in Seattle is very similar to Vancouver. The audience in Seattle was so friendly and encouraging! I would have to say the difference in currency - Canadian money isn’t worth a whole lot. A lot of people that I connected with in the states mentioned the serious issues with health care. As Canadians, we are privileged to receive universal health care and sometimes I forget how lucky I really am. Music-wise: the world of Hip Hop in the states is just so much more advanced. I’m looking forward to doing more shows in the US and breaking into the scene full force. I’m feeling blessed to be making these connections and I have a lot of respect for the American homies.
